Japanese C and D level 3

Target and requirement:
Grade 9 to 10
Two years experience of studying Japanese

Goals/objectives:
To be able to read, write, think, speak, and comprehend Japanese at an intermediate level, and to have a general cultural awareness of the Japanese Speaking world.

Resources:
Mirai 3 + 4 course book
Mirai 3 + 4 activity book
Japanese movies
Youtube clips and internet websites

Students will need:
Notebook and stationary

Main assignments and exercises:
1)activity book
2)middle-high level conversation
3)to master middle-high level grammar
4)to master 39 characters of Kanji (must be able to write and read)

Grading:
Quarter Test 30%, Wednesday test 20%, Participation 10%, Reading/writing 15%, Listening/speaking 15%, Knowledge/culture 10%

Schedule:
August and September — Mirai 3+4 Units 1 and 2
Welcome back Japanese field trip; Making arrangements; Schedules; Personal information
October and November — Mirai 3+4 Units 3 and 4
Directions; Visiting; Making arrangement; Illness
December and January — Mirai 3+4 Units 5 and 6
Wearing clothing and accessories; Taking and bringing; Counting animals and things
February and March — Mirai 3+4 Units 7 and 8
Reasons; Emotional support; Describing; Explaining; Refusing; What is it?; How do you do it?
April and May — Mirai 3+4 Units 9 and 10
Intentions; Personal information; Describing events; Expressing opinions; New year greetings
June — Fun
Cooking etc.
